Falling asleep

Falling asleep

Eyes closed, conscious thought moves towards the tipping point.

Surreal twists around logic and in that moment they belong together.

A universal truth hovers, half hidden by the velvet shroud, beckoning.  Come closer to understand.

Reaching out I fall. There is no memory of landing.

In a nutshell.

I get up tiredly.

I get dressed, unimaginatively.

I travel to work, reluctantly.

I full-fill my contract, satisfactorily.

I travel home, wearily.

I cook dinner, robotically.

I unwind, gratefully.

I sleep, fitfully.

Mercifully I dream.
